The best five races will count toward the final standings. Age-group determination is age at the end of the month of the first race run. To receive awards, a runner or team must complete at least three races. Ties will be broken by best age grading.
Intention to participate in the Grand Prix is required by signing in at the Maine USATF table for the first race. Team captains are required to submit team results within two days after a race. Clubs and individuals must be members of USATF (any association) and Maine residents. Runners must be a USATF member by Sugarloaf to have results for all races count. Runners who join after Sugarloaf will only score points in remaining races.
Team rules and scoring
- Memberships expire Dec. 31. Runners have until 30 minutes before the scheduled start of a race to renew their membership for the current year.
- MEUSATF officials will have a table at every Grand Prix race to accept new or renewed memberships. This table will close 30 minutes before the scheduled race start. Runners will be able to verify their membership and club and are encouraged to do so, especially early in the season. You are required to declare your intention to compete by signing the list at the MEUSATF table.
- Normally, runners can only score for the club indicated on their most recent membership application. Those who did not specify a club on their most recent application must complete and sign a transfer request. The request must be submitted to a MEUSATF official at least 30 minutes before the race start.
- If runners wish to change clubs, they must submit a transfer/declaration request and compete as "unattached" for 90 days. Runners should review their membership card to verify their club status ASAP.
- Changes in team/club status must be made in person. The member/athlete requesting the change shall not be represented by an agent.
- Teams are required to submit their score sheets electronically to the designated LDR official within 48 hours after results are posted on the Internet. Score sheets shall include Name, USATF #, State, Age, Place and Time of each scoring member as well as one or two alternates. Failure to provide accurate score sheets within 48 hours may result in team disqualification.
- Men's and women's teams will score their first three team members who finish. There are no declarations or limits to the number of team members. Older runners may score for younger age-group teams as well as their own age group. A woman may run on a men's team if there is no woman's team.
- Scoring for each race is by time, in whole seconds rounded up. Points are awarded to all teams in all divisions, men and women. The first place team in each division will receive points equal to the number of scoring teams in that division, with a minimum of 5 points. Each subsequent team will receive one point less, down to one point. Clubs may score only one team in each category. The best six races will count. A club must run in at least two races to qualify for awards.
- Competition is held in the following categories, with separate divisions for men and women: 39-and-under, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70-and-over. Age group is determined by age at the last day of the month for the first race the runner participates in.
- Teams must belong to USATF, and all team members must be Maine residents and members of any USATF association.
- Merchandise awards will be given to the top teams in the final Grand Prix results.
